Acting Up Stage is making a huge impact on youth in the city.

Paul Aikins,
Head of Musical Theatre,
Etobicoke School of Arts

We’re committed to developing the audiences and artists of tomorrow through One Song Glory, pre and post-show discussions and our student matinee program.

One Song Glory

Each year, up to forty-five young people from diverse backgrounds and communities across Ontario come together to train under the guidance of Toronto’s top musical theatre professionals in a positive and encouraging environment.

One Song Glory is founded on two principles:

  1. The focus, determination and self-discipline that theatre requires, builds character and is of lasting value; and
  2. That this is a no cost program; affordability is not a barrier to participation.

We are proud to report that to date, over 250 young people from different catchments across the province have completed One Song Glory.

Pre and Post Show Discussions

During all of our Mainstage productions, we offer pre and post-show discussions to enhance the audience experience.

Education & Outreach

During Ride The Cyclone, join us on Wednesday, November 15 for Egg Rolls with Andy—a chance to enjoy free appetizers and a conversation with Theatre Passe Muraille Artistic Director Andy McKim. As well, stay after the performances on Tuesday nights for a post-show Q&A with the cast.

Join us on Thursday evenings after Caroline or Change for a post-show Q&A with the cast. As well, on Saturday afternoons, join us in the lobby before Caroline or Change for a pre-performance chat with artistic staff and educators.

Student Matinee Program

During each Mainstage production we offer a weekly student matinee. Heavily subsidized tickets are available to secondary and post-secondary schools, allowing educators to use our productions to spark discussion about the social and political histories and themes addressed.

Each student matinee begins with a pre-show discussion in our lobby and ends with a post-show question and answer period with the cast of the musical. As well, teachers are sent copies of our study guide, offering information, activities and lesson plans to enhance the theatre going experience for students.
