(Director)

Lezlie is thrilled to be directing for Acting Up Stage Company after directing the hugely successful 2007 production of Elegies. Last summer Lezlie was an assistant director on Summer and Smoke and Mack & Mabel for the Shaw Festival and she directed The Yalta Game for the Shaw Festival Directors Project. Most recently Lezlie was directing and teaching young people for School for the Performing Arts in Bermuda. Other recent credits include: Waiting for the Parade, U of T/Erindale, A Christmas Carol (which she also wrote the adaptation for) Smile Theatre Company. Lezlie was the Artistic Director of The Georgian Theatre Festival from 2003 - 2005, and co-founder and Artistic Director of Theatre in Port from 1998 - 2000. She has directed for such companies as Theatre Orangeville, Victoria Playhouse, Waterloo Stage, and The Sudbury Theatre Centre. She has also been an assistant director for Soulpepper. Lezlie is a member of the Lincoln Center Director's Lab.

(Artistic Producer)

Mitchell is the founder and Artistic Producer of Acting Up Stage Theatre Company. He also is the Associate Producer of Performing Arts for Luminato, Toronto's Festival of Arts and Creativity. Mitchell has previously produced the 2006 Dora Mavor Moore Awards, and for four years, has served as the Production Coordinator for the It’s Always Something Variety Show at the Princess of Wales and Elgin Theatres. Mitchell is a graduate of York University 's Fine Arts Cultural Studies program with a focus in Arts Administration.

This is Dot’s fourth production with Acting Up Stage Theatre Company and she is delighted to be working with these fine folks once again. Robin is a graduate of the Scenography Program ( National Theatre School ) and the Costume Studies Program ( Dalhousie University ).  Select design credits include set and costumes: I, Claudia (Theatre & Company/Saidye Bronfman), What Lies Before Us (Crow’s Theatre),  A Number (CanStage), Tiny Dynamite (Theatre Smash), The Red Priest, Perfect Pie, and Trying (Thousand Islands Playhouse).  Set Design: The Danish Play (Nightwood Theatre), Mayhem and the Naked Play (Theatre Columbus ), and Girl in the Goldfish Bowl (TIP).  Costume Design:  Spirit Horse (Roseneath Theatre), Hotel Loopy, The Anger in Ernest and Ernestine (Theatre Columbus ), and Get Set for Life Live (CBC).  Robin received a Dora Mavor Moore award for best costume design for 36 Views (Actors Repertory Company).  Upcoming: Robin will be designing the set for Love you forever…and more Munsch (LKTYP).


(Costume Designer)

Alex is very happy to be back for her 3rd production with Acting Up Stage She currently designs about 70 shows each year, and has an insatiable need to bring stories to life through costumes. Look for her work this season in Brampton , Port Hope, Port Stanley , Morrisburg, as well as several theatres in the GTA. Many thanks to Carmen. Remember: a good actor is a dressed actor.


(Lighting Designer)

Gillian is a Toronto based lighting designer and is excited to be working with Acting Up Stage.  Previous design credits include The Unfortunate Misadventures of Masha Galinski and A Thought in Three Parts (Groundwater Productions), The Unexpected Man (The Unexpected Co-op) for which she received a Jessie Richardson Nomination, Driving Miss Daisy (Pacific Theatre), Shades of Blue (The Banff Centre, as part of Young Dancers in Training), and Tiger of Malaya (Richmond Gateway Theatre).  Gillian is a graduate of UBC and will be returning to the Stratford Festival this spring as an assistant lighting designer for Cabaret and The Music Man.  Her portfolio can be found online at www.gillianwolpert.com.  Thanks to her family for their unending support.

Previous set design credits include Tough! at the Factory Theatre, directed by Ken Gass, as well as Collected Stories (Mea Culpa Productions), Ali Baba (Solar Stage) Guys and Dolls (Summerstock Conservatory) West Side Story, Joseph & the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat (HWW Musical Theatre), Finer Noble Gases, The Unseen Hand (Bleeker Street Theatre),  between the tree and the sweetest pea... (Alumni Theatre) and The Chosen (Teatron Theatre). He was the set designer for the 55th annual Mass Exodus 2005: Metro fashion show, as well as a consultant on Toronto Wildlife Fashion Show. He has assisted Dora-winning designers Joanne Dente (The Hostage) and Camellia Koo (Helen's Necklace, The Wrestling Season, East of Berlin, Death of a Chief).


(Assistant Stage Manager)

Mike is looking forward to put his extensive background in software development to good use back stage in his first non-audience experience with Acting Up Stage and apologizes up front if his first reaction to any problem is to try to reboot it.  When not working in technology, he dabbles in various areas of theatre from producing to set design to the occasional foray onto the stage.  Selected theatre credits include working back stage whenever Dot twists his arm, and occasionally calling the show in crisis situations.


(Production Manager)

Like many Canadian artists, Brad wears many hats depending on the season - teacher, producer, production manager, director, writer, dramaturge. He has worked in theatres across the country, most recently touring the acclaimed "Dickens of the Mounted". He is currently the Co-Theatre Coordinator of Walmer Centre Theatre. Previous credits include: Winston; Anatomy of Miss Gee; Evil Dead 1&2 The Musical; Night Noises; Richard III

(Associate Producer)

Matt is the Associate Producer for Acting Up Stage Theatre Company.  He has been associated with the company since 2005 and has been involved in all of its subsequent productions from John and Jen (ASM) to Elegies: A Song Cycle (Associate Producer) and the One Song Glory/With A Little Help From My Friends benefits (Associate Producer). 

Selected Credits include: Director “Songs for a New World” (Little Voices), Stage Manager “How I Learned to Drive” (Theatre Kingston), Stage Manager/ Production Manager “King David: The Musical (Kahina Productions), Stage Manager/ Assistant Director/Lighting Designer “What Happened Was…” (Coraggio Co.), ASM “This is Our Youth” (MacIDeas), Set Designer “The Rivals” and “Swollen Tongues” (Queens Drama Dept.) and Ahrens and Flaherty’s “Lucky Stiff” (Queens Musical Theatre) in which he also played Vinnie.  Matt is a graduate of the Stage and Screen Studies program at Queens University

Currently Matt is the General Manager for Evil Dead: The Musical as well as the Business Manager for The Diesel Playhouse.


(Executive Producer)

As well as business interests in real estate and fashion, as Executive Producer of Acting Upstage, David Daniels continues a lifelong involvement in entertainment, which includes acting, writing or producing credits on dozens of projects. Among them are PALAIS ROYALE (MGM), I’LL NEVER GET TO HEAVEN (CBC), A PROMISE KEPT (Metaphor Productions), THE MYSTERY OF IRMA VEP (Metaphor Productions). With Larry Zack he is developing the feature, KING OF THE PARK written by Alfred Uhry (DRIVING MISS DAISY) and three unnamed multi-platform projects. He has been the Co-Chair and Executive Producer of IT’S ALWAYS SOMETHING An Evening of Comedy, Music, Dance to benefit Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto, 2005, 2006, 2007.
